Picture: Divine Mercy - The Last Hope for the Dying by Tommy Canning

This image titled "Divine Mercy – The Last Hope for the Dying" was painted in 2026 by artist Tommy Canning from Scotland.

"This painting, completed in late 2025, called Divine Mercy – The Last Hope of the Dying, was, with the help of God’s grace, my interpretation of an entry in the Diary of Saint Faustina. There are numerous accounts Saint Faustina recounted in her Diary detailing certain instances when she was either instructed by Our Lord to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for a particular soul who was in the final moments before death." Tommy Canning

“Suddenly, I found myself in a strange cottage where an elderly man was dying amidst great torments. All about the bed was a multitude of demons and the family, who were crying. When I began to pray, the spirits of darkness fled, with hissing and threats directed at me. The soul became calm and, filled with trust, rested in the Lord.” (St. Faustina, Diary 1798)
